Zephyr Lodge, Northstar Resort, Lake Tahoe, CA
Mike proposed to Courtenay atop a windy mountain in Lake Tahoe, so it seemed appropriate that they tie the knot there as well, at the awesome Zephyr Lodge at Northstar Resort.
For me personally I had never been to Lake Tahoe outside of winter, so I was excited to see how truly gorgeous it was...and it did not disappoint! Requiring two lifts to get to the Lodge, it was fun seeing the pristine white of Courtenay and her bridesmaids' robes pitted against the rugged rides of the mountain bikers waiting alongside for the lifts to arrive.
Foregoing a first look is always my preference, as seeing your bride to be walking down the aisle elicits such an emotional response, and Mike's huge smile says it all. Those emotions carried over through the Ceremony, as his brother and sister in law read excerpts from "I Like You" through teary eyes.
Not to be outdone by his brother's vocal skills, Mike surprised Courtenay (and myself I only found out 10 minutes before his performance!) with a performance of Prince's song, "Kiss", to everyone's delight. Busy shooting, I didn't pay attention to the singing part....but I heard you hit them high notes in that song dude! :D
Towards the end of the night, Courtenay shared a dance with her stepfather, which drew some tears from observing family. Thinking it was just another dance, I was surprised when one of her aunt's came up to me to ensure I captured it and asked to make sure she gets to see them. Moments like these unexpected joys melt my heart knowing I am able to contribute to cherished memories ❤
